Teaching materials

Teaching materials for students of the Bachelor and Master degree is published by professors on the Be E-Poli (BeeP) portal, which was born as an online support tool for teachers’ and students’ activities at Politecnico di Milano.

Teachers of different courses will upload on BeeP the teaching materials prepared for students, organizing them in folders and subfolders, making it easy and fast to find and consult them. Teachers may also create “Homework” directories, where the students will be able to upload their finished assignments. Other than sharing materials, BeeP supports teamworking, online communication between teachers and students and can integrate web tools resources.

BeeP is based on an open source engine and is a dynamic portal: it constantly gets enriched with new functionalities and improvements thanks to suggestions from the international community, but especially from students at Politecnico di Milano.

Tutoring service

The tutoring service is a students’ assistance service, which aims at orienting and assisting them during the whole duration of their course of study, making them active participants of the teaching process, helping them overcome obstacles which hinder an effective attendance to the lessons, also though initiatives directed to individual needs and attitudes.

The tutoring service assists the students during their career, mainly during the Bachelor degree, involving both students-tutors and teachers.

The goals of the tutoring activities can be summed up as:

  • Providing indications to the students relative to the practical organization of studies at Politecnico di Milano, like clarifying the teaching modalities and helping in structuring the study plan
  • Being a reference for all students of the Bachelor and Master degree for what concerns courses teachings and exams, and/or the associated problems
  • Support students that feel the need to overcome small insecurities about base subjects providing direct help offering clarifications and solving exercises

All information about tutoring activities and the relative schedules are available on the School of Industrial and Information Engineering website.

Study Plan

The Study Plan is the instrument which allows the student to define which and how many exams he wants to take during the academic year. The study plan must be presented at the start of the first semester, within the deadlines published in the Academic Calendar.

The presentation of the Study Plan will be done using the On Line Services Portal.

The student will be able to:

  • Select the Suggested Study Plan
  • Modify the suggested study plan, within the rules defined by the University, by the School of Industrial and Information Engineering, and by the Teaching Regulations of the programme. The approval of the Study Plan requires consulting the Study Plan Supervisors.

In the second semester, still within the deadlines published in the Academic Calendar, the student can apply non-mandatory modifications to the previously presented Study Plan. Further information is provided on the relative page on the University website.

Innovative Teaching Methodologies

The continuous variation of the skills required after graduation and the characteristics of the enrolling students requires a reworking of the teaching methodologies, with the goal of teaching students to be able to manage complexity and cross-competences, to be sensitive to different cultures and open to diversity, to be involved in the effort to improve society and drive innovation. In accordance to the Three-Years Plan Regulations of MIUR (Italian Ministry for University and Research), the Programmes and the Schools must be encouraged to:

  • Experiment with Innovative Teaching methodologies, develop cross-competences and soft skills, providing flipped/blended classrooms, put value in digital possibilities like the introduction of MOOCs and initiatives designed and provided together with companies (Elements marked with “di” allow students to experiment with some Innovative Teaching Methodologies);
  • Experiment with opportunities to give value to passion and attitudes of students, also outside of the strictly course-related activities, but that can be certified in the student’s career, e.g., in the diploma supplement (Passion In Action).
